Stake and earn with REX
Last updated: October 10, 2026
Short answer
REX is the Vaulta resource exchange: a shared pool you lend A to. You receive REX shares, and their value in A rises as the pool earns. To lend, A moves from your wallet into your REX fund and buys REX. To take it back, you sell REX into the fund and withdraw it to your wallet. REX you move out of savings can be sold about 21 days later. Blocksfinity never holds your A. You sign every step with keys you control.
Where your A sits
Lending touches three places. Knowing which one holds your A explains almost every balance question.
- Wallet: your liquid A balance. You can send or spend it at any time.
- REX fund: a holding area inside the system contract. A waits here before you buy REX and after you sell it. It earns nothing while it sits here.
- REX: your lent position, held as REX shares. This is the only place that earns.
Buy REX, sell REX, deposit, withdraw
Four system actions move A between those places:
- Deposit: wallet to REX fund. Nothing is lent yet.
- Buy REX: REX fund to REX. This is the lending step. New REX goes straight into savings, where it keeps earning.
- Sell REX: REX to REX fund. Only matured REX can be sold. The proceeds land in the fund, not in your wallet.
- Withdraw: REX fund to wallet. After this, the A is liquid again.
If a sale left A in your REX fund, you do not need to deposit again to lend it. Buy REX straight from the fund, or withdraw it to your wallet.
Lend and unlend in Blocksfinity
The Stake & Earn page bundles those actions so one signature does the whole move:
- Lend liquid A runs deposit, then buy REX.
- Unlend runs sell REX, then withdraw, for the amount you type.
- Lend staked A moves A you already staked to CPU or NET into REX directly, without the 3-day unstake wait.
- The manual buttons (buy REX, sell REX, deposit, withdraw) run one action each, for when you want to control every step.
Savings and the 21-day unlock
Lent REX sits in savings, which has no end date. To sell, first move REX out of savings. That starts the unlock wait. The chain sets the unlock time to the next midnight UTC plus 21 days, so the real wait is a little over 20 days. Moving out of savings does not add yield. The REX keeps earning the whole time.
- Move the REX you want out of savings.
- Wait for the unlock date shown on Stake & Earn.
- Unlend the amount you want. It arrives in your wallet as A.
Selling takes all matured REX
On Vaulta, every sale also sells all your other matured REX in the same action. This is a chain rule, not a wallet setting. If you unlocked a large amount and then sell a small part of it, the chain sells all of it. Only the amount you withdraw reaches your wallet. The rest stays in your REX fund and stops earning.
Blocksfinity handles this for you. When you unlend less than your matured balance, the same transaction first moves the rest back to savings, so only the amount you typed is sold. If you sell with another wallet or a command line tool, check your REX fund afterwards.
How the return works
One REX is worth the pool's total lendable A divided by all REX in existence. When the pool earns, for example from resource fees the system routes to it, total lendable A grows and each REX is worth more. Nothing is paid out to you. Your return is the higher price when you sell. Stake & Earn shows a yield measured from actual pool growth. It is not a fixed rate and not a promise of profit.
Lent REX also counts toward your vote weight. Selling it lowers your vote weight, and can lower rewards from voting proxies that pay by stake.
When a sale waits in a queue
The pool keeps a reserve: 10% of the A currently rented out. If paying your sale would cut into that reserve, the sale waits in a queue instead of failing. Blocksfinity then sends only the sell, without the withdraw, and tells you. When the order fills, the A is in your REX fund and you withdraw it.
Common mistakes
- Expecting A in your wallet after a sell. Sell REX fills your REX fund. Withdraw moves it to your wallet.
- Leaving sold A in the REX fund. It earns nothing there. Buy REX again or withdraw it.
- Unlocking everything to sell a little. Unlock only what you plan to sell, since any later sale takes all matured REX.
- Reading the yield as guaranteed. It moves with pool income and can change from week to week.
Questions people ask
What is REX on Vaulta?
REX is the Vaulta resource exchange, a shared pool you lend A to. You get REX shares whose value in A rises as the pool earns. Returns follow pool growth and are not a fixed rate.
What is the difference between buy REX, sell REX, deposit, and withdraw?
Deposit moves A from your wallet to your REX fund. Buy REX lends it from the fund. Sell REX turns matured REX back into A in the fund. Withdraw moves A from the fund to your wallet.
How long does it take to unlend REX?
REX you move out of savings can be sold at the next midnight UTC plus 21 days, so a little over 20 days. After that, unlend sells it and withdraws the A in one transaction.
Why did selling a little REX sell all of it?
On Vaulta every sale also sells all other matured REX. The extra lands in your REX fund. Blocksfinity moves the rest to savings first, so only the amount you type is sold.
Why is my A in the REX fund and not my wallet?
Sell REX pays into the REX fund. Withdraw moves it to your wallet. A in the fund earns nothing, so withdraw it or buy REX again.
Can I lose A by lending to REX?
You sell REX for its current value in A, which the pool sets. That value rises as the pool earns, but the return is not guaranteed, and a sale can wait in a queue when the pool is short of free funds.
Does Blocksfinity hold my REX or my A?
No. REX lives in the Vaulta system contract under your account. You sign every action with keys you control, and Blocksfinity cannot move or recover them.
